SCHWENKSVILLE FIRE COMPANY

911 Information

When should you call 911?

To save a life

To stop a crime

To report a fire

Montgomery County has Enhanced 911 emergency service which means whether you need the police, fire department or emergency medical services, 911 is the number to call.

Call 911 anytime you have an emergency. An emergency is a situation that threatens human life or property and demands immediate attention. Make sure that everybody in your family knows this. Don't depend on a memory button on your phone to dial 911, the number in memory can be accidentally erased. Don't use the number for the nearest fire station in an emergency situation because if firefighters are out of the station on a call, valuable time will be wasted.

When you call 911 you should stay calm, tell the 911 call taker where the emergency is located and what type of emergency service is needed (police, fire, or emergency medical services). Remember, 911 is for EMERGENCIES ONLY. In non-emergency situations, you can find the numbers for police, fire and medical help in your Bell Atlantic White Pages.

You can now dial 911 from any telephone or TTY to get emergency assistance. The person who takes your call will have your telephone number and address displayed on their monitor, enabling a prompt and accurate response.
